It’s easy to hoist the mainsail on Haston Dee, our Macwester 26.

It’s a different story, though, when I come to lower it.  The sail is all over the place and it is very difficult to wrap it all neatly around the boom.  A brief mention was made in the October 2022 edition of Practical Boat Owner of Lazy Jack systems which enable the mainsail to be lowered neatly with the sail folding up on either side of the boom.

Has anyone come across these things being available for Macwesters?

    Hi Geoff

I’ve had mine from Jeckells (made to order). They’re excellent, and know Mac designs. Most sailing  boats have one these days.

If you contact them, they will ask you to take a few measurements and they will make one to match your boat and ship it out to you.
