Hi Everyone, I wonder if anyone knows how the keels on an Atlanta 28 are fixed to the boat please ? I have not found much on the internet about them . I did wonder if they were anything like the Macwester 27 bilge keels !

Thanks for any help with this , Gene

I believe they are referred to as “encapsulated” keels, and do not have conventional keel bolts. However, the fibreglass inner side of the hull on my Atlanta 28 definitely have significant bulges where I would expect the bilge or twin keels to be attached.
One side of my port side keel has a hairline crack where it joins to the hull, but a surveyor has only recommended that I grind out the crack, allow it to dry out and then refill with epoxy and top off with gel coat, before antifouling.
Sorry I can’t be of any more help.

Hi Christopher, Thanks for that , it was valuable information . There really isn’t alot about the keels on the net, the bit about the surveyor was interesting ! I have read that they are quite tough and don’t often suffer problems .

    Thanks again ,Gene
