I have a macwester 26. Some of the stanchions are loose and seem to be bolted on from underneath. There is some leakage in the cubbies. What is the best way to tighten thinks up and prevent water getting in? One of the stanchions is also bent inwards and I would like to straighten it. I have only owned the boat for about 2 months and it is on the hard in a boatyard. Appreciate any advice.

You must remove the headlining and get under deck to the heads of the bolts.
Remove all the stanchions. Clean the base of each one. Clean the boat, removing all old sealer inside and out. Refit using new bolts and Sikaflex.
You may be able to straighten the bent one once it is off the boat (on a bench).
Any excess sealant, leave until it is almost set and then remove it with a good sharp chisel. Doing it while wet will result in mess everywhere.
