    Thanks ever-so-much Bob.

I appear to be chatting with you on two interfaces simultaneously (my apologies).

I was told this was a safe, sail-ready & dry MW28 from 1984 when I bought it & every step forward knocks me a few steps back.

Am I fighting a losing battle here?  Can I make this safe for my family and I to enjoy?  I hope you say yes?

Oh, and our water tank is in the cockpit, not the bilge.  Nothing seems to be where it should be lol.

Also we have a Beta Marine Diesel engine…So should I assume that is another bespoke modification?

Reply from BobT: definitely! Good choice; I have one in The MW27 that I bought last year. It had been installed about 10 yrs ago to replace the original Volvo MD2B (my 2nd MW 27! – the first one from 1998 to 2019, and that also had an MD2B) .

The original specification standard was a 10 hp Stuart-Turner 2 cyl 2stroke engine. Not many had that fitted! Nice smooth-running unit, but it wouldn’t pull the  skin off of the top of the proverbial rice pudding! A variety of diesels were fitted over the years, most often Volvo Penta MD2B 25hp (lots of grunt to punch against the strongest tides, but it was very heavy). Some MD1B single cylinder, One or 2 SAAB, a few BUKH, and even Solé diesels.

Thank you Bob, certainly you are a wealth of information.

I’m so confused, because our galley and table are reversed.  Is there any logical situation where someone could have requested it that way?
